Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice" has captivated audiences for over two centuries with its timeless exploration of love, social class, and societal norms. The 1995 film adaptation, starring Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle, is my personal favorite, so I decided to embark on mixing a Regency-inspired cocktail recipe and pairing it with some yummy snacks.
The Pemberley Punch Cocktail
The Pemberley Punch is a sparkling wine cocktail with an extra punch of cognac and orange liqueur, perfect for polluting the shades of Pemberley. It's a drink that will be handsome enough to tempt you while getting lost in the world of Miss Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy.
Cocktail Ingredients
3 oz sparkling wine (dry or demi-sec)
1 oz cognac (or brandy)
1 oz orange liqueur (like Grand Marnier)
1 oz orange juice (freshly squeezed if you're fancy)
A dash of Angostura bitters
Orange twist, for garnish
Mixology Instructions
In a mixing glass filled with ice, combine cognac, orange liqueur, orange juice, and bitters.
Stir until well chilled, then strain into a coupe or wine glass.
Top with sparkling wine.
Add an orange twist for garnish.

Snack Pairing: Lemon Cake and Almond Shortbread
There are so many options for lovely pairings to have with this cocktail. Here are some ideas - I love lemon cake with this drink!
Savory Snacks
Prosciutto-wrapped melon – sweet-salty pairing that echoes the orange and sparkling notes.
Mini vol-au-vents or puff pastry shells filled with chicken salad, smoked salmon mousse, or herbed cream cheese.
Goat cheese on toast rounds with a drizzle of honey and fresh thyme.
Parmesan crisps – delicate, crunchy, and slightly salty.
Sweet Snacks
Lemon cake – a sponge cake that mirrors the punch’s citrus.
Almond shortbread – buttery with a refined flavor.
Macarons in light fruit flavors (apricot, raspberry, orange).
Candied orange peel dipped in dark chocolate.
Light Fruit & Cheese Pairings
Brie or triple-cream cheese with pear slices.
A small plate of grapes, figs, and walnuts.
A Touch of Fun: Pride and Prejudice Word Search and Cryptogram
To add an interactive twist to your viewing experience, I've created a"Pride and Prejudice" word search and cryptogram. You can print it out with the recipe PDF so you have them both - or you can print out the cocktail recipe PDF on its own without the puzzles. It's a good way to take a break from the day and relax and enjoy a moment of serenity.
